It's the most wonderful time of the year!

December 23, 2010

I don't think it matters what religion (if any) you follow, but I think that this time of year is always special. There is an air of happiness, friendliness and joy. I appreciate all my family, friends, clients and colleagues. I hug them a little harder, shake their hands a little longer, smile at them a little more, speak to them longer on the phone. I'm so fortunate to have so many people that I enjoy being with in my life. Life can truly be wonderful, if you let it be wonderful to you.

The other day I saw a man giving the 'finger' to another woman as she yelled at him for taking the parking spot that she had been waiting for. I felt sorry for both of them. Him, for not having the heart to be nice to another person, and her for letting that kind of man change her whole mood and ( I'm just assuming) ruining her day (or at least a good part of it). But I was just thinking, why don't they get it? Don't they see that we're only put here on earth for a short while and that we need to make the best of it? After all, this is not a dress rehearsal, this is it! I know that being kind and giving and helping others gives me a great feeling, almost a high (a natural one). I would rather spend my days feeling that way than be angry all the time. So, when I see people behaving that way, I always make a wish that they will see that their behaviour is hurting themselves, not others. What a world this would be if we could let the little things go, concentrate on bettering each other and ourselves and helping each other. What a world it would be if we all let each other believe in what everybody wants to believe in and respect each other. I know it's a dream, but I like to think that I do a little bit every day to help make that dream come true.

So, I wish everybody a Merry Christmas, if you choose to celebrate it, a Happy New Year and a healthy, happy, kind and successful 2011!
